Introducing you to our new Doctors
Dr Moises Fernando Alvarez
I am originally from Peru and qualified as a doctor at the Barcelona Medical School in 1983 and worked for 2 years in the Costa Brava region. I came to England in 1985 and after 3 years of training in the South Yorkshire region I gained my GP qualification in 1988.
I got my first employment as a Principal GP at St George’s Medical Practice over 20 years ago and for the past 8 years I have been teaching medical students and junior doctors from Sheffield University Medical School. I am also a trainer for GP trainees for the Barnsley Vocational Training Scheme.
When I was approached by Dr Davies to join his Practice before his retirement I felt honoured for the confidence he had in my professional skills and my ability to offer the same excellent quality of care that he has provided to his patients for many years. I hope I can live up to his expectations and will endeavour to do so to the best of my abilities.
I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this transitional period and look forward to meeting you at Kingswell Surgery.
Dr Wajiha Farhan
I graduated from Pakistan in 2001 and moved to England in 2003. I qualified as a GP from the Barnsley scheme in 2009 and joined St George’s Medical Practice straight away, initially as a salaried GP and then became a Partner in 2010.
I have been working as a GP trainer for almost 6 years, which gives me an opportunity to supervise GP registrars and keep myself up to date with the new developments in various specialities.
My areas of interest are ENT, Diabetes and Women’s health including contraception and menopause.
I am excited to be part of the “Kingswell team” and look forward to working here.
Dr Charlotte Kukstas
I qualified as a doctor from Sheffield University and have stayed in the Yorkshire area since then. As well as working at Kingswell Surgery, I also work a couple of days a week at St George’s medical Practice.
Women’s health has always been a passion of mine and in the last few years I have completed diplomas in both Sexual and Reproductive Health and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. More recently I finished my training to fit both contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices. For over two years now I have been volunteering with Sheffield Working Women’s Opportunities Project, a group that helps women involved in street prostitution. They offer support in a number of areas, including drug treatment, sexual health screening, benefits claims, housing issues, court appearances, plus an evening mobile outreach service.
I am also very passionate about teaching, and regularly run tutorials with medical students from the University of Sheffield. Alongside this teaching I am currently undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.
